Arriving at Union Station, visitors are greeted by a fully restored 1914 Beaux Arts train station, with elegant bars and restaurants and beautiful views of the Rocky Mountains to the east. The Rocky Mountains start a few miles west of the city and offer opportunities for skiing, hiking and mountain biking. Take a look at the Big Blue Bear sculpture, officially known as the Colorado State Capitol sculpture (see what I mean) and immerse yourself in one of the most iconic artworks in the state’s history. There are passionate artisans who make some of our most adventurous beers from across the country, making beers with bold ingredients such as hops, barley, yeast and barley wine. When visiting for the first time, make sure you find the best place in town (think the city park) to watch a bright orange sunset in the Rocky Mountains. With a highly educated and well-attended population, Denver is a great place if you fancy a day trip to the mountains or even a night in the city.
